Waiting On Wednesday

Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted on Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My Pick this week is;
END OF DAYS (Penryn and the End of Days #3)by Susan Ee

After a daring escape from the angels, Penryn and Raffe are on the run. They’re both desperate to find a doctor who can reverse the twisted changes inflicted by the angels on Raffe and Penryn’s sister. As they set off in search of answers, a startling revelation about Raffe’s past unleashes dark forces that threaten them all.

 When the angels release an apocalyptic nightmare onto humans, both sides are set on a path toward war. As unlikely alliances form and strategies shift, who will emerge victorious? Forced to pick sides in the fight for control of the earthly realm, Raffe and Penryn must choose: Their own kind, or each other?

To say that I'm excited about this book will be an understatement. I adore this series and CANNOT wait to get my hands on this. The first book Angelfall is still one of my favourite book of all times and the last book which kept me awake until it was morning. The second book, World After was just as good and I'm sure End Of Days will blow my mind.

If you haven't picked up this book, then stop reading and start this series soon. You'll be begging for the end Of Days before you know it.
Me and a few friends have already started a re read of the series so, join us if you like.

Releases on 12th May, 2015  by Hodder and Stoughton

 My pick this week is;
THE FOREVER SONG (Blood of Eden #3) byJulie Kagawa

VENGEANCE WILL BE HERS

Allison Sekemoto once struggled with the question: human or monster?

With the death of her love, Zeke, she has her answer.

MONSTER

Allie will embrace her cold vampire side to hunt down and end Sarren, the psychopathic vampire who murdered Zeke. But the trail is bloody and long, and Sarren has left many surprises for Allie and her companions—her creator, Kanin, and her blood brother, Jackal. The trail is leading straight to the one place they must protect at any cost—the last vampire-free zone on Earth, Eden. And Sarren has one final, brutal shock in store for Allie.

In a ruined world where no life is sacred and former allies can turn on you in one heartbeat, Allie will face her darkest days. And if she succeeds, triumph is short-lived in the face of surviving forever alone
Releases on 2nd May, 2014

 I have thoroughly enjoyed the Blood of Eden series so far. The first book, The Immortal Rules, was dark and gritty, just like how I like it and the second book, The Eternity Cure, took the internal war in Allie's head between the monster and the human, to another level. Now, in the final volume, I'm hoping to see so manner of a conclusion to this dilemma. More Kanin too!

 My pick this week is;
THE WIZARD'S PROMISE (The Hanna Duology #1) by Cassandra Rose Clarke

All Hanna Euli wants is to become a proper witch – but unfortunately, she’s stuck as an apprentice to a grumpy fisherman. When their boat gets caught up in a mysterious storm and blown wildly off course, Hanna finds herself further away from home than she’s ever been before.

As she tries to get back, she learns there may be more to her apprentice master than she realized, especially when a mysterious, beautiful, and very non-human boy begins following her through the ocean, claiming that he needs Hanna’s help.
Releases in 5th May, 2014

I am utterly bewitched with Cassandra Rose Clarke's writing.  Her The Mad Scientist's (click here for my review) is one of my favourite adult fantasy books and her YA series The Assassin's Curse (click here for the review of The Assassin's Curse and here for The Pirate's Wish) had me hook, line and sinker. So when I heard there will be more books in the same world and Ananna and Naji, my excitement was over the charts. The Wizard's Promise is the first book in The Hanna Duology.

 My Pick this week is;
RUIN AND RISING (The Grisha #3) by Leigh Bardugo

The capital has fallen. The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne.

Now the nation's fate rests with a broken Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great magical army.

Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with the hunt for the elusive firebird and the hope that an outlaw prince still survives.

Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova's amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling's secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destruction—and claiming it could cost Alina the very future she’s fighting for
.

Releases in June, 2014

I absolutely cannot wait for this book. I am in love with this series and in love with The Darkling. Yeah I know he is evil and murderous but he has more character and depth and many layers which gets revealed slowly over the course of this series.

The cover for this book was revealed last week but as everyone has pretty much seen and drooled over it I decided not to do a post on it.  Well, all I have to do is twiddle my thumbs and wait for the end of this brilliant series.

 My Pick this week is;
ALTERED (Crewel #2)by Jennifer Albin

Life. Possibility. Choice.

Secrets that will redefine each of them. Torn between two brothers and two worlds, Adelice must choose what to fight for.

In this thrilling sequel to Crewel, Adelice is about to learn how tangled up her past and future really are. Her parents ran to protect her, but nothing can save her from her destiny, and once she uncovers the truth, it will change everything.
Releases on the 29th of October, 2013

Crewel was released by Faber & Faber last year but I'm not sure when will this release in the UK so I've the US release date. I loved Crewel (read my review here) and I'm firmly on Team Erik. I loved how it had a mature tone and the atmosphere had so much sadness hanging in the air.

 My Pick this week is;
WORLD AFTER (Penryn and the End of Days #2)by Susan Ee

In this sequel to the bestselling fantasy thriller, Angelfall, the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what's left of the modern world.

When a group of people capture Penryn's sister Paige, thinking she's a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.

Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Releases on the 21st of November, 2013

I adored Angelfall. In fact I read it a couple of years ago when it was still a self-pub and I stayed all night to finish the book. Click here to read my review. I tried to get a review copy but as I couldn't get one I'm waiting for November to read this.

So my Pick this week is;
TEMPT THE STARS (Cassie Palmer #6) by Karen Chance

Being a goddess is a lot less fun than you might think. Especially when you’re only a half goddess, and you only found out about it recently, and you still don’t know what you’re doing half the time. And when you’ve just used your not-so-reliable powers to burglarize the booby-trapped office of a vampire mob boss.

Yeah, that part sucks.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg for Cassandra Palmer, aka the Pythia, the freshly minted chief seer of the supernatural world. After all, Cassie still has to save a friend from a fate worse than death, deal with an increasingly possessive master vampire, and prevent a party of her own acolytes from unleashing a storm of fury upon the world. Totally just your average day at the office, right
Releases on the 1st of October, 2013.

I adore this series. The first few books were a little shaking but the ones afterwards were great fun. Especially the cliffhanger at the end of Hunt the Moon (Read my review here). Plus I want more Pritkin. ;)

So my Pick this week is;
THE COLDEST GIRL IN COLDTOWN by Holly Black

Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.

One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown is a wholly original story of rage and revenge, of guilt and horror, and of love and loathing from bestselling and acclaimed author Holly Black
Releases on the 3rd September, 2013 by Indigo

This book is being eagerly anticipated not just by me but pretty much the entire book blogging world. the synopsis is intriguing and promises mystery and thrills.

So my Pick this week is;
FIFTH GRAVE PAST THE LIGHT (Charley Davidson #5) by Darynda Jones

Charley Davidson may not look like your everyday, run-of-the-mill grim reaper, but she has vowed to reap grimness wherever she goes despite this unfortunate fact. Sadly, she gets sidetracked when the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, moves in next door. As he is the main suspect in her arson case, she has vowed to stay away from him until she can find out the truth.

However, when dead women start appearing in her apartment—lost, confused and terrified beyond reason—Charley has no choice but to ask for Reyes' help, especially when it becomes apparent that her own sister, Gemma, is the serial killer's next target. With his ability to observe incorporeally, surely he can find out who's responsible. And even if he can't, he is the one man alive who could protect Gemma no matter who or what came at her. But he wants something in return: Charley. All of her—body and soul. And to keep her sister safe, it is a price she might be willing to pay..
.
Releases in 9th of July, 2013.

I loved the first two books in this series (My review of First Grave to the Right) but as the reat of the books were not out then I gave this series a break. But now that this series reached Book 5 I'm soon going to start this wonderful action and humour filled Urban Fantasy series

So my Pick this week is;
THE WOKEN GODS by Gwenda Bond
Five years ago, the gods of ancient mythology awoke around the world.
This morning, Kyra Locke is late for school.
Seventeen-year-old Kyra lives in a transformed Washington, D.C., home to the embassies of divine pantheons and the mysterious Society of the Sun. But when rebellious Kyra encounters two trickster gods on her way back from school, one offering a threat and the other a warning, it turns out her life isn’t what it seems. She escapes with the aid of Osborne “Oz” Spencer, an intriguing Society field operative, only to discover that her scholar father has disappeared with a dangerous relic. The Society needs it, and they don’t care that she knows nothing about her father’s secrets.
Now Kyra must depend on her wits and the suspect help of scary gods, her estranged oracle mother, and, of course, Oz–whose first allegiance is to the Society. She has no choice if she’s going to recover the missing relic and save her father. And if she doesn’t? Well, that may just mean the end of the world as she knows it.
From the author of Blackwood comes a fresh, thrilling urban fantasy that will appeal to fans of Neil Gaiman, Cassandra Clare, and Rick Riordan.
Releases in September, 2013.

I've heard really good things about Blackwood by Gwenda Bond but never had the opportunity to try her writing yet. I have faith in Strange Chemistry to bring out awesome books, so I'm pretty sure it's going to be great.

So my Pick this week is;
THE BONE SEASON (The Scion #1) by Samantha Shannon
It is the year 2059. Several major world cities are under the control of a security force called Scion. Paige Mahoney works in the criminal underworld of Scion London, part of a secret cell known as the Seven Seals. The work she does is unusual: scouting for information by breaking into others’ minds. Paige is a dreamwalker, a rare kind of clairvoyant, and in this world, the voyants commit treason simply by breathing.

But when Paige is captured and arrested, she encounters a power more sinister even than Scion. The voyant prison is a separate city—Oxford, erased from the map two centuries ago and now controlled by a powerful, otherworldly race. These creatures, the Rephaim, value the voyants highly—as soldiers in their army.

Paige is assigned to a Rephaite keeper, Warden, who will be in charge of her care and training. He is her master. Her natural enemy. But if she wants to regain her freedom, Paige will have to learn something of his mind and his own mysterious motives.

Releases on the 20th of August, 2013.

I'm really excited about this book. It's been a while since I've read a hard core Urban fanatsy book with a strong heroine.  This book will be right up my street.

It's been a while since I have done one of these but I cannot tell you how much I want to read this. When the last book came out, I sent the Boyfriend away on a trip, barricaded myself in my bedroom all day with my phone on silent (read my review for Magic Slays here). Yes, I'm crazy in love with this series and it one of the best Urban Fantasy books out there. Keep it up Ilona Andrews.

So my Pick this week is;

MAGIC RISES (Kate Daniels #6) by Ilona Andrews

Atlanta is a city plagued by magical problems. Kate Daniels will fight to solve them—no matter the cost.

Mercenary Kate Daniels and her mate, Curran, the Beast Lord, are struggling to solve a heartbreaking crisis. Unable to control their beasts, many of the Pack’s shapeshifting children fail to survive to adulthood. While there is a medicine that can help, the secret to its making is closely guarded by the European packs, and there’s little available in Atlanta.

Kate can’t bear to watch innocents suffer, but the solution she and Curran have found threatens to be even more painful. The European shapeshifters who once outmaneuvered the Beast Lord have asked him to arbitrate a dispute—and they’ll pay him in medicine. With the young people’s survival and the Pack’s future at stake, Kate and Curran know they must accept the offer—but they have little doubt that they’re heading straight into a trap…

My Pick this week is;
FALLEN TOO FAR (Too Far #1)  by Abbi Glines

She is still naïve and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother.

She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that…

Blaire just may have fallen too far

I haven't done a Waiting on Wednesday in a long time. I love this meme but due to the lack of time sometimes have to miss it. I'm hoping to remedy that from now on.

My Pick this week is;

GAMEBOARD OF THE GODS  by Richelle Mead
In a futuristic world nearly destroyed by religious extremists, Justin March lives in exile after failing in his job as an investigator of religious groups and supernatural claims. But Justin is given a second chance when Mae Koskinen comes to bring him back to the Republic of United North America (RUNA). Raised in an aristocratic caste, Mae is now a member of the military’s most elite and terrifying tier, a soldier with enhanced reflexes and skills.

When Justin and Mae are assigned to work together to solve a string of ritualistic murders, they soon realize that their discoveries have exposed them to terrible danger. As their investigation races forward, unknown enemies and powers greater than they can imagine are gathering in the shadows, ready to reclaim the world in which humans are merely game pieces on their board.

Gameboard of the Gods, the first installment of Richelle Mead’s Age of X series, will have all the elements that have made her YA Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series such megasuccesses: sexy, irresistible characters; romantic and mythological intrigue; and relentless action and suspense.

Releases on 5th Febuary, 2013 in the UK.
Richelle Mead is one of my favourite authors and I love her writing. I simply cannot wait for this.

My Pick this week is;
THE QUEEN IS DEAD (The Immortal Empire #2) by Kate Locke

Xandra Varden is the newly crowned Goblin Queen of England. But her complicated life is by no means over.

There are the political factions vying for her favor, and the all too-close scrutiny of Queen Victoria, who for some reason wants her head. Not to mention her werewolf boyfriend with demands of his own, and a mother hell bent on destroying the monarchy. Now she's the suspect in a murder investigation—and Xandra barely knows which way is up.

What she does know is that nothing lasts forever—and immortality isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Releases on 5th Febuary, 2013 in the UK.

I haven't read the first book yet but I've heard so many good things about it that I'm waiting for this book so that I don't have to wait for the sequel.
